After an entirely too busy summer, things are settling down a bit so I’m just really busy instead of so-busy-that-I-don’t-actually-have-any-time-to-do-anything-but-work busy. One of the big changes in the life of the Charman-Anderson household is that we’re the proud parents of two kittens, who as of today are four months old.
Friends of our ours were adopted by a cat. Sookie was a bit on the big side, and when they took her to the vet for a check up, he offered his congratulations. They were going to be kittie parents. We waited for months as we got updates on Sookie’s pregnancy progress, and we knew it was meant to be when eight kittens were born on my birthday.
We originally were only going to adopt one, and Suw wanted a girl. We brought Grabbity home when she was just 10 weeks old. She was an achingly cute little ball of fluff. Grabbity is a portmanteau of grab and gravtiy. Even before we brought her home, if things fell, we would say: Grabbity did it!
Shortly after we brought Grabbity home, one of other people who were going to adopt had second thoughts. The kitten had a slight heart murmur, and the prospective kittie parent was worried about what that meant for the future. We stepped in and said that we’d take another. We had been thinking about it for a while anyway because we thought Grabbity would enjoy the company. Two weeks after we brought Grabbity home, we brought her brother, Sir Izacat Mewton, home. We named him Sir Izacat Mewton because as everyone knows Mewton discovered Grabbity.
They are, of course, getting into all kinds of mischief. They have discovered drawers now.

We’ve had Grabbity (the kittie with the white nose in the front) for a couple of weeks now. Then we found out that the person who was going to adopt her brother pulled out because he has a heart murmur. That doesn’t bother us so today we brought him home too so Grabbity has some company. We’ve named him Sir Izacat Mewton, because of course Mewton discovered Grabbity.
Grabbity was a little unsure of having her brother here, but now they seemed to have settled in together.

This is a picture of our new little kitteh, Grabbity. She’s a little over 10 weeks old in this picture, and she’s a glorious bundle of cuteness and energy. She’s currently bombing around our flat and playing with everything that isn’t nailed down. She’s settled in at the flat so well.
Right now, she’s trying to climb Suw while she types away on her computer. We’re overwhelmed by her cuteness, and I apologise if the blog gets a little kitten heavy in the near future.
My darling wife, sensing that the internet doesn’t have enough pictures and videos of cats, has rushed to stop the global Cute Cat Crash of 2009. Armed with her shiny new Flip video camera, she is rushing to digitally capture any cat in sight. Her hope is that this Cute Kittie Quantitative Easing will be enough of a stimulus to counter the downward psychological pressure of the Global Great Recession. Flooding the internet with cute kittie videos, she believes this lift in consumer sentiment will not only return the world to positive growth but also end racism, Global Warming and rampant prejudice against southpaws.
Suw heard this kittie meowing very loudly. We’re three floors up on a main road. Suw took pity on it. We have fed it and set up a litter pan for it. When we put the litter pan down for it, I had to ask whether it was kitty litter or cat nip.

LOLcat, Suw and I wish you a happy Thanksgiving. I think that I’ve finally figured out what I’m going to make for Thanksgiving dinner with Suw. Baked Egg crepe custard cups with french beans with pumpkin custard for dessert. Yum.

What better Saturday morning entertainment than a cat? Cassie is one of two cats that althought they look quite similar are only cousins: Cassie and Polly as in the twins Castor and Pollux. I got a little bit of the action with my camera phone, but this was the tail end of it pardon the pun. Seeing as Suw and I can’t have cats of our own – our flat is too small even for us and would be cruel and unusual punishment for a cat – we have to enjoy the cats that Suw’s parents have. Cats are just so damn cute. (And as we often say, cats are not code word for anything else.)
