Suw and Tom at the Moo Party at The Ambassador on Exmouth Market London.
Moo was launching their cool new stickers. Suw got some before the release, being the blog queen that she is (her words, not mine). She was sticking her stickers on anyone and everyone so she could buy some more the next day.
Don’t worry gentle reader. Tom wasn’t about to get medieval on my ass for taking his photo. He actually held this look for an eternity as my cameraphone warmed up.
As for Suw, she’s either a) squinting from the blinding aura of Mr Plasticbag or b) playing some British drinking game that I don’t understand that involves reciting cricket jargon or English place names, which as far as I know are the same thing. Off-stump-googley-shire.

I’m quite behind in my blogging these days, but here is one of the pictures from my recent quick trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On the last night in town, we went around the corner from our hotel for dinner, and on the way, we passed this stand selling durian fruit – known as the ‘king’ or ‘god of fruits’. Malaysians love it, but for those who didn’t grow up with the fruit and acquire the taste, the biggest challenge is to get one of these things past your nose. Even sitting in the stand, it gives off a stomach wrenching stench not too different from rotten eggs. But it’s part of the vibrant night life of Kuala Lumpur, an amazing city.
I was just saying last night that living in London, I couldn’t watch This America Life the TV programme here in the UK. That has changed. Now, with my US iTunes account, I can buy the show.
With my exclamation of joy, a friend here at work just said, “I think I know what it’s like on Christmas morning at your house.” Indeed, this almost makes up for the gruelling few weeks I’ve had.

I passed through Hong Kong briefly today on my way to Kuala Lumpur where I’m taking part in the citizen journalism conference. I had a seven hour layover, and I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see the city, especially seeing as I was the only one in my family who hadn’t been there.
The city was buzzing as they celebrated 10 years since the handover of rule from Britain to China. There were skydivers, these bright panda statues – one for each year since the handover in different colours. Tonight there will even be spectacular fireworks, which I had to miss. The flight to Malaysia was at 3.
The city itself was just amazing with these spindly high-rise apartments, really driving home the premium of space. I took the high-speed train from the airport, which was fast, convenient and easy. It took me from the airport to its terminus in Hong Kong in 20 minutes. I then took the ferry across the bay to Kowloon peninsula. I walked around there for a bit. I would have liked to explore a park there, but it wasn’t clear how to get in. But it really was a memorable – albeit extremely brief – visit to one of the world’s greatest cities.

I was logging into the hotspot at Heathrow, a T-Mobile hotspot, and the Google search defaulted to German. I wonder if they shipped the hotspot directly over from Germany and forget to do a little twiddle to set it to the Queen’s English. Hmmm…
Oh well, fortunately, I speak German so it was an excuse to read in German. But it was a bit odd, if not all that inconvenient.
